A comprehensive outpatient treatment program built on a broad curriculum, combining group therapy with individual counseling sessions. The aim is a productive, clean and sober life, and the work is practical rather than abstract.

What the Program Covers

Our program gives clients the cognitive coping skills needed to interrupt high-risk thinking before it turns into use. Those skills are taught in group and reinforced one to one.

Core skill

Cognitive Coping Skills

Recognizing high-risk thinking as it happens rather than in hindsight, and having something to do about it. Most relapses are decided well before the drink or the bag.

Core skill

Relapse and Recidivism Prevention

Mapping your own triggers, the people and places attached to them, and building a plan for the moments you already know are coming.

Education

Drug and Alcohol Education

What substances actually do to the body and the brain, how tolerance and dependence develop, and where the line sits between use and a problem.

Family

Family Education

Addiction is rarely a solo event. Family education covers what the people around you have been carrying and how those patterns either support recovery or quietly undermine it.

Format

Group Therapy Sessions

Three hours at a time, with people at different stages of the same problem. Hearing someone six weeks ahead of you describe your own thinking is worth more than any lecture.

Format

Individual Counseling

One-to-one sessions alongside group, for the material that does not belong in a room of twelve people and for the parts of your situation that are specific to you.

Same Total Hours, Different Pace

Both programs come to seventy-two hours of group treatment. IOP compresses them into eight weeks at nine hours a week. SOP spreads them across twelve weeks at six. Which suits you is a clinical question, not a preference.

Which Level You Start At

Decided at assessment

A licensed counselor takes a full history and recommends a level. Two people with identical charges can need very different things.

IOP tends to fit

Heavier or longer-standing use, previous attempts that did not hold, or a situation where more structure now is the safer bet.

SOP tends to fit

A lighter clinical picture, or the step down after finishing IOP when the priority becomes holding onto the gains.

Court-ordered clients

Bring the order to intake. Some conditions specify a level of care, and the assessment has to work within that.

Common Questions About Outpatient Treatment

Can I keep working while I attend?

That is the point of outpatient. All groups run from 6:00 PM, so a standard day shift is unaffected. Shift work is worth raising at intake so we can plan around it.

Do I get individual counseling as well as group?

Yes. Both programs combine group therapy with individual sessions. Group carries most of the curriculum; individual work handles what is specific to you.

Can I move from IOP to SOP partway through?

Stepping down after completing IOP is common and often the plan from the start. Moving mid-program is a clinical decision rather than a scheduling one.

What happens if I miss a session?

Tell the office before the group rather than after. Attendance is tracked, and for court-ordered clients it is reported, so a missed session handled properly is very different from one that is not.

Do I have to be court-ordered to enroll?

No. Plenty of clients arrive without any legal involvement at all. The treatment is the same either way; court-ordered clients simply have reporting attached.

Before You Start

1
Assessment

A licensed counselor takes a full history and recommends IOP, SOP, or something else entirely.

2
Intake

Bring photo ID, any court or probation paperwork, and payment information.

3
Placement

You join the next available cohort in English or Spanish, on the evenings that match your program.

4
Completion

Eight or twelve weeks later, with documentation for whoever requires it.

Outpatient is not the right starting point for everyone. This is not a residential facility or a detox unit, and there is no medical care or overnight supervision on site.

Anyone at risk of a medically dangerous withdrawal, particularly from alcohol or benzodiazepines, needs a medical evaluation or a detox program first. Outpatient treatment works far better as the step that follows. In an emergency, seek emergency care immediately.
